SAFETY POLCIES

Photography

We know a lot of us love to share memories of our gatherings. The below guidelines we feel will provide you all a balance between privacy and capturing the event.

  1. Nudity – No photos permitted.

  2. Children – Parents consent required.

  3. Individual shots – Seek consent where possible. If asked to delete a photo you have taken please do so.

  4. Performers – if you do not want to be photographed / filmed please express this prior to sharing.

  5. Group (From a distance where individuals and children cannot easily be identified) - consent not required.

As well as the above guidelines for all attendees, Castle will have trusted, approved photographer/s, and from now on they will be identified by lanyards and tags. This role is generally exempt from the 'Child, Individual and Performer' consent requirements.

That being said: If at any time you notice yourself being photographed and are not comfortable with that please get the photographer's attention, show the palm of your hand and shake your head to indicate. It is your own due-diligence in following up that they have seen you, and communicating your needs.

It is assumed that photos and videos taken under these guidelines will be okay to share only on the Castle FB page.

As stated above, permission should be obtained to share any individual photos on any other media

Child Safety

Castle is a wonderful place for children to dance and play but please remember that duty of care remains with parents/carers at all time.

Some key points to remember:

- Unfamiliar settings, animals and people should all be taken into consideration when bringing children to castle.

- Teach children to be respectful of wild areas. Our site is a great place to teach new wild skills! Teach your children to be mindful of wombat holes, respectful of noise and light for nocturnal creatures and cautious of all that may bite or sting.

- Stranger danger - Castle Tribe is flourishing and that means lots of new people to get to know. Whilst Castle is a close knit group of like minded people Village is also a music festival and should be treated as such.

- It is important for safety that children remain within sight of their carer’s at all times, including at the river and Childrens Space.

If there are any concerns for safety of any human, any age or size, please familiarise yourself with our Castle Guardians and First Aid Teams for support at any time of day.

Dogs

How to be a responsible dog parent:

We want to make Castle Drumming events easy and enjoyable for everyone including the dogs. In order to maintain our community atmosphere and to ensure that everyone staying have a peaceful experience, please read and observe the following.

Our philosophy is: your dog, your responsibility for their behaviours and their mess.

Before thinking about taking your dog to Castle events, can you answer those 3 questions:

- is it going to be enjoyable for your dog?

- is it going to be enjoyable for you?

- is it going to be enjoyable for others?

If you answer No to one of those questions, it is better to leave your dog at home with someone.

If you decide to bring your dog, we ask that you follow those guidelines.

1- Exercice your dog in the morning and afternoon taking them for a walk and toilet break

2- If you can't actively supervise your dog, keep your dog on a leash with you or at your camp resting

3- Dogs need 14 to 16h of sleep per day. Encourage some nap times during the day in a safe place at your camp

4- When at your camp, your dog needs to be within 20m of you

5- Create a safe space for your dog at your camp using a dog bed, water, long leash, and a play pen or crate if applicable

6- Be mindful and considerate of others. Not everyone likes dogs and be ok and understanding if we ask you to keep your dog away

7- Please keep your dog away from workshop areas (or on a leash next to you)

8- No dogs roaming free at night or around the main fire

9- Pick up for your dog's poo and any poo you will find on site (even if it's not your dog)

10- Be able to call back your dog in any situations and when needed

11- All interactions between dogs and kids need to be supervised (responsibility of dog parents and kids parents)

12- Dogs that pose a safety risk may not remain on site (including those that cause damage to the property or other participants, are too disruptive, are not properly attended or demonstrate signs of aggression)

13- and finally, if you do chose to bring your dog please make sure that it is treated for ticks.
